Other Comments:

The Park was designed by Ken Wormhoudt,
Landscape Architect. He is the west coast's
foremost expert on skate parks and has
designed other parks in California, in Santa
Cruz, Palo Alto and Santa Rosa. Mr.
Wormhoudt has held two design workshops
with local skate boarders; one utilizing clay
modeling. Features formed by local skate
boarders in clay have been incorporated in
the final design.

The Arcata Skate Park is built on a 17,000 sq.
foot parcel just adjacent to the railroad tracks
on the corner of highway 101 and Sunset in
Arcata. It's approximately 92 feet in diameter.
The design incorporates a snake run with a
bowl, a pyramid jump and skid curbs. There
will be a snack/safety equipment shack on the
premises. The park will be supervised by a
staff person who will have a cellular phone for
emergency purposes. Restroom facilities will
be portable the first year, but then permanent
after that.
